Lenten Devotional for Feb. 17 written by Jean Clancey

“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfareand not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” Jeremiah 29: 11.

This Daphne by our doorstep has survived many seasons and weather changes,most recently the forbidding ice storm. It blooms faithfully each year with a sweetscent and delicate beauty. It reminds me that we can trust God, who knows andloves us, and through whom we have the promise of hope. No matter what.

Gracious God, you give us hope through your son, Jesus Christ. In times ofdifficulty and in times of joy, you promise to be present with us. Inspire us tobear witness to the love of Christ as we journey through life, for you desire thewelfare of all people. No matter what.
