Dr. Lindsey Henriksen Rodgers - Associate Organist/Children’s Music
Lindsey, a native Oregonian, has served as our Associate Organist and Children's Choir Director since 2006. She also directs Music Together Eugene, a music and dance educational program for children from ages birth to 5, which is hosted at Central Lutheran.
Lindsey earned her bachelor's degree in organ performance from Walla Walla University, her master's degree in organ performance from Yale University (with a certificate from their Institute of Sacred Music), and her doctorate in musicology from the University of Oregon, where she also teaches a range of graduate and undergraduate courses. Her dissertation, "The North German Chorale Fantasia: A Sermon Without Words," explores how the seventeenth-century composers Sweelinck, Scheidemann, Praetorius, and Reincken use musical texture in novel ways, creating aural journeys that mirror the texts that form the basis for their chorale fantasias.
Lindsey also maintains a private piano studio, and thrives on the energy sparked by the interactions between her work as a teacher, scholar, and musician. When she can find free time, she enjoys reading cookbooks and experimenting in the kitchen with her husband, Steve, and sons, Sam and Paul.
