Dear Members and Friends of Central,
The Task Force charged with the responsibility of making an informed recommendation on reopening Central, as well as your elected council leaders, worked through a very thoughtful and deliberate process before coming to the following recommendation:
Using a start/stop model,* Central Lutheran Church will reopen our facility to in-person worship implementing safe practices as recommended by the OHA/CDC.
Option 1: Move the live stream worship service to 9am beginning Sunday, June 21 (note the time change).
Option 2: Offer an off-site outdoor worship service (capacity max 100) beginning Sunday, June 21 at 11am (through the summer).
Option 3: Offer an in-person worship service in our sanctuary (capacity max 50) beginning Sunday, June 28 at 9am (with live stream worship).
Many protocols are being put in place to ensure the health and safety of all who enter our facility to the best of our ability. During these unprecedented times, things we've treasured about our worship life will not look and feel quite the same. The live stream worship option will continue to be available for those who are unable to worship with us in-person, but who wish to worship with us from home. It will also be available as a podcast for later viewing via our website.
From the beginning of the pandemic we have all had to make sacrifices, and now in reopening we know we are also taking risks. Yet, we are not doing so without being informed by the scientific and medical experts whose work has guided our decision-making process. We also know these plans may need to change at a moment's notice. Therefore, we intend to monitor this reopening closely. Stay safe. Keep the faith. And hold to the promise: "Lo, I am with you always," Jesus said, "to the end of the age."
In Christ's Abiding Love,
* If there’s a COVID-19 outbreak traced to someone in our facility or a recommendation by the Governor of Oregon, the Oregon Health Authority and/or the Lane County Health Authority to return to a pre-phase 2 shut-down due to a resurgence of COVID-19 cases or other health-related concerns, we would stop in-person worship until it is deemed safe to reopen.
