Lenten Devotion, Apr. 4
"I will sing of your love and justice; to you, O LORD, I will sing praise." Psalm 101:1
Martin Luther said that "next to the Word of God, music deserves the highest praise...the gift of song was given to man so that he may proclaim the Word of God" and I agree! Music is a balm for my soul that I cannot logically explain—I feel peace, harmony, and reverence when I sing.
As a devotee of Martin Luther, the master, J.S. Bach says it best: "I play the notes as they are written but it is God who makes the music...The final aim is the glorification of God and the refreshment of the Spirit".

Singing praise to God is my favorite thing because I know our echoes are intangible pleas for justice, peace, and love in the image of Christ. Whether it's Bach, Rutter, or a simple yet ancient Gregorian Chant—I feel the Spirit of God within me while I sing His praises and feel genuine joy in exalting the mystery and beauty of Faith.
